Strength | Psalm 73:25-26

While our bodies may fail, our hearts may find strength in the God of heaven…He is with us forever!

Bible Verse

Psalms 73:25-26 (NASB) 25 Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Strength

There is one alone in whom we can find the strength to carry on and that is in the one God of heaven. God alone is all we need to be strengthened to serve in this world and in the land where He has placed us. He places us where He wants us to carry out His will and to share His message with those who need to hear it. Afterall, we would not know God if someone had not shared His message of hope and salvation with us. And because someone shared that message with us, and because we have received salvation through that message, we have a responsibility to share the same message of forgiveness and salvation with others.

While we may feel that our bodies are failing us, we gain strength of heart by following and trusting in God and in His Son Jesus. When we realize that we have all we need in the God of heaven, then the things and the desires of this earth fall away. As we learn to trust in God, we realize that we have need of nothing on this earth except to serve Him according to His will. He is our portion forever meaning that the things of this earth do not carry the same desire as they once did. While our bodies may begin to fail us as we age, the one thing in which we can remain confident is that our heart is continually strengthened in Him.

Application

If we allow His words to permeate who we are, then our heart for Him and serving Him will continue to grow as we age. Peace and comfort begin to reign in our lives when we live a life fully committed to Him. He will always protect us and provide us with what we need to better serve Him. When we do not feel like we have the strength to go on, He will provide us with the strength of heart that we need to carry out His will.

Have you considered the strength of heart that God provides you to do His will?

What earthly things or concerns are keeping you from trusting Him completely?

Take time to surrender your life to Him and ask Him to show you the strength that He wants to provide you to do His will and fulfill your part of His ministry.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that while my body may fail, You provide me the strength I need to get through the day and to serve You and fulfill the ministry to which I have been called.
