No matter what situation we face in life, prayer offered to God is the one thing upon which we can always trust!
Bible Verse
Psalms 55:16-17 (NASB) 16 As for me, I shall call upon God, And the LORD will save me. 17 Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice.
Prayer
Our God is a God of answered prayer. Prayer is the one tool that we always have in our toolbox to deal with the situations and circumstances of life. Whether you are living your best life or struggling to keep your head above water, you always have the opportunity to offer prayer to God in your circumstance. Notice the words of David. He declares that he shall call upon God and that God will save him. This comes from a life well lived trusting God. David learned to trust God and that God would save him from whatever situation he faced in life. David was not a perfect man. He made his mistakes. When he made mistakes, he confessed them, and God forgave him.
Another principle of prayer that we learn from David is that our prayer should be constant. David did not just pray about a situation once and then leave it alone. No! Notice David tells us that he prayed in the evening, in the morning, and at mid-day. David’s prayers were emotion filled prayers to God. He did not simply say, here is my problem God. He says that he complained and murmured. David told God, under no uncertain terms, what he was facing. David was brutally honest with God and God heard his voice. Our God is a God of emotion, and He fully expects our prayers to be filled with emotion.
Application
When is the last time you offered prayer to God that was emotion filled and raw?
When is the last time that you bared your soul to Him morning, noon, and night?
Are you trusting Him that He will answer? Are you willing to accept His answer whether it is what you want to hear or not?
These are the questions we must all ask ourselves as we learn to trust God and open up to Him.
Prayer
Lord, I give You thanks that You are a God who hears our prayers and answers them. Help me to be willing to pray to You morning, noon, and night and to accept whatever answer You may give.
