Bible Verse
Mark 3:28-29 28 “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
Forgiveness
We serve a God whose capacity for forgiveness is nearly unbounded. In Mark, we are told that there is only one sin that is unforgiveable and that is the blashpemy of the Holy Spirit. R.C Sproul describes blasphemy as something that is spoken. It represents a time in life when some may say “no” to the gospel or to the work of the Holy Spirit. We must come to a point in life when we decide definitively if we are with God or not. When we decide that we are with God and that we accept, by faith in the Son of God, the forgiveness that God alone can offer, then we are forgiven of all our sins even whatever other blasphemies we utter. God’s love for us is inexpressible in human terms. We can rest assured that God promises us forgiveness when we turn to Him and repent. And we can rest assured that God keeps all His promises.
Application
We all face a time in life when we must decide if we will accept the forgiveness God offers each of us. Our forgiveness is personal. It is based on a decision that only we can make for ourselves. No one else can make this decision for us. God calls each of us to account for our actions. Perhaps the single greatest act of our life is to trust in God’s Son, Jesus. With the proclamation of faith and trust in Him, we must repent and begin to change the way we live. We must learn to follow Him and to trust Him in all matters of life. We do not need to worry because our God will provide for us. He only asks that we seek Him first (Matthew 6:31-34). The people were worried about having enough to eat or drink and about what they would wear. They were worried about material things. Jesus tells them not to worry. He tells them that if they seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness that He will provide for them. And so He will do for us today.
Are you worried about tomorrow, or even today?
Have you placed your faith and trust in Jesus?
Reflect on today’s passage and accept the forgiveness of God. He can and will forgive ALL your sins.
Prayer
Lord, today I accept Your forgiveness and make a conscious verbal choice to repent of my sins and follow You. Forgive me and lead me in Your way.
